YMA O HYD art print using letters from North Wales. YMA O HYD is a famous Welsh phrase meaning ” still here”. It comes from a defiant 1983 folk song by Dafydd Iwan that celebrates the survival of the Welsh language and culture despite centuries of oppression.
Today, it is a rallying cry used by the Welsh public and diaspora to express perseverance and resilience. It is most commonly used as a booming pre-match anthem sung by fans at Welsh National football and rugby matches and at club sides like Wrexham AFC.
